Hi

I have af and had one cardioversion and waiting for another. Had a letter from my consultant which says if next one does not work then a rate control approach. Does anyone know what this is?

This means that you would remain in AF but your heart rate would be controlled by meds.

I’m in the same boat.... had Newly diagnosed AF, tried drugs. Ended up with heart ablation, but still in AFIB. I under medicine now and waiting for a concrete plan. Another ablation of continued meds...,Best wishes to all.

Rate control means taking drugs to keep your heart rate in reasonable levels as opposed to rhythm control where they try to keep you in normal sinus rhythm (NSR).

How long have you been in AFIB? Do you want to remain in AFIB,? If not I would question what else could be done. Obviously I do not know your history.

Is that continuous AFib? You have not reverted to Sinus Rythum at all

If your heart in good condition and your health is Ok I would push for an ablation .
