Planning pregnancy

Hi everyone,

As most of you will know I was diagnosed with PAF in October 18 and had my Cryoblation the following week. I am pleased to say that even though I have to stay on Bisoprolol because my heart rates still quite high I haven’t had any AF attacks just a few eptopics. So so far so good 🤞🏻 I finish my Rivarozaban on 30th January (this month)

I get married this year and me and my fiancé want to start trying for a baby. Just wanted some advice to hear those who have had babies, how it went and if there is anything I need to know please? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks x

I know of one young lady who did successfully but suggest that you discuss with your EP team . Just remember some drugs such as ibuprofen should not be used if you have or have had AF. Have fun and good luck.

This is less info. than a few words of encouragement .I had a first and only child at 40 and almost certainly had Afib. at that time. With regard to my heart everything went well.I kept off any medications other than ferrous sulphate which was prescribed at one point. So good luck .

Check with your medics regarding your current medication regime and if you need to stop bisoprolol while pregnant as you would check out any other drug and pregnancy. Good luck with your wedding and planned pregnancy.

Thanks everyone that’s really helpful. I’m going to speak to my GP who is really up on my full medical history to check with him. I was just interested to hear other people’s stories thanks for all your advice everyone x

You might want to try joining the American AF Support Forum on Facebook as there seem to be a lot of younger women on there.

Just a quick summary of my experience. As my pregnancy progressed I did get many ectopics every day, especially in the evenings. At seven months pregnant I had a full blown AF episode and went into hospital. However, although I was quite poorly at the end as i also had a sickness bug, the birth went well and all was ok. That was 26 years ago and I still have AF but it doesn't stop me keeping active. Good Luck.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me x

It took my Heart Rate a good 6 months to get back to normal levels without a beta blocker, so it's early days

Congratulations on getting married, and good luck

Hi Amy ,

Iv had two babies . I have AFib and SVT .

My ectopics wasn’t great during my pregnancies I was put on a small dose of beta block after 20 weeks which helped . during labour I had an epidural so I didn’t have so much pressure on my heart . Both of my girls are happy , healthy activite children.

Best of luck Michelle x
