Hi all, I went to my post ablation assessment yesterday at Liverpool heart and chest hospital. I had a EKG and Echo which were both fine thankfully. The EP who performed the procedure said he was happy for me to stop meds at my convenience as all looks good and my symptoms are virtually zero. I have been on bisoprolol and flecainide for 5 years so just wondered if anyone on here has done a similar thing without side effects? The EP wasn't concerned at all which is great. The EP did say that he hoped the ablation would work for several years but cannot offer any guarentee which I knew was the case, so healthy diet and zero alcohol continues as per .... Thanks for any info and have a great day 🎅🙏
Stopping meds: Hi all, I went to my... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Stopping meds
Great news! I came off bisoprolol recently with no sideeffects, but was advised NOT to stop suddenly My G P good me to take half a daily dose for few days, then quarter and so on...best to check out with medic I would say.
Best wishes anyway !
Hi I had ablation in July and was told to stop flecainide one week after which I did with no issues although I'd only been on it for a couple of months. I've taken 10mg of bisoprolol for years and this was reduced to 5mg as after ablation hr was in 40's. Now reduced to 2.5mg for one month then to stop taking it altogether. So far I've not had any af and I've even managed the odd glass of wine or lager with no ill effects.
Hi, just go for it. I was a bit dubious also about stopping meds suddenly and queried if I should titrate the dose and reduce gradually, but was informed it wouldn't be necessary. I feel so much better without the Bisop and Flecainide. Does the EP think you should continue taking an anticoagulant for a while. I did so, but stopped within a few months. I still carry a supply of all three around with me, a PIP just in case of a recurrence, a year and a half on since ablation.
Hi Dave
What a great appointment and news! I wish you all the best and am guessing once off all mess you will feel even more amazing...please keep us up to date and enjoy the holidays. Missy
Thanks missy... Yes I'm really pleased with the results and I'm hoping for a good 2019 as 2018 was a complete disaster 😬 ... I will definitely keep posting and commenting where appropriate as this forum has been amazing help to me all year and it's great to give something back. How are you doing pls?
Thanks for asking Dave. Just shy of 8 weeks I am not wearing a week long monitor to see what exactly is going on. I sense some AFIB and many ectopics but who knows. I am disappointed that the cryo seems to have not been successful but remain hopeful that once we figure out just what is going on we can plan next steps. Baking holiday cookies today & enjoying the slower work time maintaining a sense of gratitude both for my relative good health, but for this, and the support received from family and friends and this group.
