Trapped Wind

I having problems with trapped wind, I recently had a stent fitted and at the same time discovered I had a Hiatus Hernia, My Dr put me on Lansoprazole. I do not get any acid in my throat or acidic discomfort. But at certain times of the day I suffer with chronic trapped wind, this makes me belch and can be quite embarrassing. I would like to find something that is an alternative to lansoprazole if possible which may ease the symtoms. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I too have a hiatus hernia. There are a number of other proton pump inhibitors to try. There is also ranitidine which isn't a ppi but may work for you. My GP also suggested buscopan for trapped wind. Ask your doctor what he or she thinks might be preferable for you, together you will find a medicine which is best for you. Good luck.

Thanks, I am seeing my GP in two weeks. I will discuss it again with her.

Peppermint tea and peppermint in general is useful ! I'm on ompeprazole, but to be honest I fart like a trooper anyway but that's probably more to do with diet than anything else.

Thanks, I will try the peppermint tea, it's embarrassing when in the pub and let one rip because you can't hold it in.

Try a ginger supplement, bought from a health food shop, and take one as soon as the problem arises. I find it disperses the wind fairly quickly.
