,looked at the medical information listing s,arrhythmia does not have to be reported unless as people have said here, causes blackouts etc. However on the list is also Heart Palpitations, which then says should be reported!

Yes it can be confusing and does seem to have changed recentlyas it was a mandatory report. The fact that palpitations is such a nebulous term ( merely means that you are aware of your heart beating) means that if you have AF then you should report it unless you are one of the lucky ones in permanent AF who is unaware of their heart. I would say fill in H1 for the sake of safety and inform insurance company as well as failure may invalidate the insurance. Most companys state that any codnition which must be reported to DVLA need to be advised on proposal .

Well, thanks for the advice here Bob, but I tend to let sleeping dogs lie.

However, maybe I'll have to take this under consideration, due to the insurance aspects.

I was never aware at the beginning that there was a DVLA requirement at all, so I never told them when I was first diagnosed. I have successfully driven around, at least twice, whilst in AF, without any concern for my or anyone else's safety, as I felt in total control of my actions. I really don't see the need for any further restriction on my activities as driving does not need any excessive muscular function and my cognitive function seems totally unimpaired. What would you do if AF struck whilst you were driving home from somewhere very distant?

Not what you're looking for?
