Has anyone stopped taking Pradaxa to have a procedure? If, so, for how long?
And, did you have any problems resuming Pradaxa?
Thanks

I’m on Apixaban and I’ve just had a pacemaker implant for which I had to stop AC 48 hours beforehand. There were no problems and I resumed AC the evening of the procedure. I had no problems.
This is normal practice for any surgical procedure. What are your concerns for stopping or re-starting?
I had a lumbar puncture earlier this year & had to stop Pradaxa 24 hrs before it. I had to stop it 4 days before a cervical discectomy last year.
Restarting was immediately after both procedures.
There is a great deal of conflicting advice about NOACs. I have been appalled at some of the ignorance. A senior nurse at my pre-op, who knew I took Pradaxa, asked for my INR.
My Orthopedic Surgeon did contact my EP's team for advice. That is a sensible way to proceed.
Good luck!
I stopped Pradaxa 24 hours before last week’s ablation without any dramas. My EP said my left atrial appendage looked great - much better than 6 weeks earlier when it had a clot in it (after being off Rivaroxiban for 48 hours).
