Ablation update......

It is some 9 days since my RF ablation and progressing well. During the first 3 days or so, during the day, the heart rate reduced from a normal 62 to anywhere between 42 and 50 and occasionally, breathing was a bit more laboured and my chest felt tight. Night time was nearer normal. I used the Kardia a couple of times during this period and got some "unclassified" results but pulse was regular, although not showing much of a P wave.

Yesterday, I took the plunge and decided to go to Beancounter's Natter 'n Nosh but we drove in to avoid problems with stairs and escalators. I thought I was behaving myself, but I did get ticked off by Beancounter for carrying a small tray of drinks....that all seemed to change however, when he realised one of the drinks was for him!!

Must admit I felt a bit tired last night, but slept well. Kardia was showing "normal" and P wave had returned. The other interesting thing was my BP. I also checked that for the first time yesterday and pre ablation it took around 3 attempts to get it from around 140/80 to 125/70. Yesterday, and again today it read 118/62 after the second attempt! I don't think I've had any ectopics or palpitations. Still got the enormous bruise on my thigh, but no problems around the entry wounds.

Hope this helps some of you either considering or about to have an ablation but please remember, we are all different and can react differently to all treatment plans...I still plan to take it easy all next week but hope to ease myself back into my daily walks.

You can dream. I won’t tell you we are at La Flèche after 3 months away. Or that the forecast is 26 today. 😁

So pleased you are doing so well. I, too, had my ablation 9 days ago. I have remained in NSR ever since but my blood pressure is always too high. I had a GA and was under for over 5 hours followed by a chest infection and the last couple of days have felt quite weepy. I took my dogs out for a very gentle walk yesterday, always a gentle walk with them as they are 13 and 14! Hoping to build up exercise gently but at the same time really nervous. Do you feel the same? I love hearing how others are doing so please don't stop. ps. Isn't the bruising spectacular!

Hopefully you have read this already.

Yes, I think most people are anxious after an ablation. Have we made the right decision, is it going to work and worrying every time you feel something different happening to your heart and/or body. Eventually things settle and we all just get on with life. I personally believe gentle exercise is good during the second week and in my case, that was supported by the hospital. In your case, I’m sure your dogs will make sure you don’t overdo things. Bruise is beginning to fade but still stretches down the back of my leg to below the knee....hope all goes well for you and that you soon get rid of the infection....

That’s great John, hope all continues to go well 👍. I didn’t make nosh n natter again due to this awful rash but one of these days I’ll get there. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves.

This all sounds really positive Flapjack, well done! I know we all react differently but I am really hoping that mine in October follows your positive progress. Keep being sensible!

Glad it's going well for you, Flapjack! I'm just a few days behind you, pretty good except for catheter problems. (see my post today)

Have just read your post Tom, sounds very unpleasant but hopefully it will soon be OK for you. Best wishes for a successful outcome.
