A bit of nature to brighten your weekend

I’m trying to get plenty of walks in before Friday’s ablation which will put me out of action for a while.

This magnificent creature put a smile on my face when I saw him today. I thought the nature lovers amongst you may appreciate his beauty as well.

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you. I used to see hundreds, yes hundreds, of pelicans once a year off the coast of Israel when they returned home to Africa after having spent a while on the Hula reserve in the north of Israel them .....feeding,breeding?They would fly over the sea but very close to land so we had a magnificent view of them.

It’s wonderful watching them glide in to lans on the water

Hi Kaz, I love the photo and believe you live in Australia. What is that bird called?

I hope Fridays ablation is a success for you and will be waiting for news on how it all went.

Best wishes

Jean x

The bird is a Pelican. Yes we are in Western Australia. We spend most weekends in a town south of Perth called Mandurah - there is water everywhere and lots of wildlife. I actually walked into town today to pick up a few things at the shops and my husband came to pick me up in his boat to take me home. It’s a bit like Venice without the history and old buildings.

I must have missed mandurah when I was in Perth last year....I was the other side of river and got ferry across each day...I wonder why the

Hop on and off “ tour red bus” never covered that area it sounds perfect....good luck Kaz for Friday I hope it’s a great success and you can get that caravan travellung in later years to come!...I’m hoping if mines a success I can eventually get back to your wonderful country again.....fingers crossed for all of us on here.....

Mandurah is about an hour’s drive from Perth or a 50 minute train ride - well worth a day trip or a shot stay if you’re a tourist 🐬🦀🐠🦆🌞😎

I’ve just realized we drove into it..on way back from Margaret river...( don’t inow why I didn’t recognize it as a yummy had fish and chips lunch......) it’s just dawned when you saud Venice...yes all the houses seem to be on waterfronts....it was so new and clean and what a nice way to live watching boats go by.....we got slightly lost in there it’s quite a big place isn’t it..actually very lost! .......hmm we got lost in Perth too.....onky had maps not sat nav!

😃😃 Getting lost is understandable. When my husband was driving in the UK years ago (pre Sat Nav) and I was navigating we went around some big roundabouts a few times trying to figure out where we were going.

Ha ha yes we’ve done that....we drove from Margaret river and thru Perth to start the northern trip, but we got lost on the way thru Perth wizzed off in wrong places....of course the map reader gets blamed!!

A wonderful bird is a Pelican Its beak can hold more than it's belly can.

A year or so ago we helped rescue a pelican that had fishing tackle around his neck with a wildlife rescuer. We took a video:

Your very talented, I don't even know how to put a photo up on here or whether I can on your personal messages. I've got a similar one taken on Elizabeth Quay when we used to visit the Lucky Shag! 🤣x

I use the Health Unlocked app on my phone so it’s really easy to upload a photo. Love the Lucky Shag.

Thanks FlapJack. I’ve found a few good pubs when walking along the river Thames - don’t remember seeing any pelicans though 😂
