Update on speech!

Thanks for the voices of reason, did my speech, made everyone laugh lots, big round of applause at the end, lots of comments...'great speech!'

Still made a few subtle points that were taken up by those astute enough and who knew me well

But very happy and glad I went with speech 2! Lovely gifts and vouchers to spend too!

Thanks everyone for your input.

Now....what to do with my time? I have sorted the garden, allottment is tidy, airing cupboard has been completely sorted out, kitchen drawers likewise.......

Shall take time to assess.....not ready for daytime tv yet...not that there is anything wrong with it if yiu cant do a lot

Thanks again xx

Really pleased to hear it all went well. I'd been going to say "Go for speech 1" and damn the consequences, but clearly wiser to do as you did. Enjoy all your lovely gifts and the luxury of some time for yourself.

There's LOTS to do out there before you need to succumb to daytime TV: try a new hobby or leisure activity, join an organisation such as U3A, or the WI, or Townswomen's Guild, volunteer for something - there are masses of opportunities and something to suit every one and you only need to commit to what you feel able to manage. Many retired people will say that they don't know how they ever found time to go to work and it's certainly true that volunteers gain as much from helping others as those they help.

What ever you do - enjoy!

I'm sure you will find plenty to do. You just don't have to do it st break neck pace.

Well done you. On retirement I took two different computer courses to keep the brain going and hobbywise started card making. Currently stitching birthday cards on white linen effect card. Hope you find something you really enjoy doing.

Well done. Enjoy your retirement. I’ve done quite a bit of traveling since I retired despite this pesky AF. Also precious time spent with grandchildren and husband. Have to smile now on a cold wet winters morning when the neighbours are off to work 😂

I'm pleased to hear your speech was successful.

Being retired has truly been the best part of my life. I feel totally free and absolutely love it. After getting up you can now take your mornings slowly should you wish that. Find a nice National Trust property near you and volunteer in the house as a guide (I do that), in the garden or lots of other volunteering opportunities there. You will meet new people, get a free entry card that gets you into any other property, 20% discount in the shop and on holiday lets, have the opportunity to attend interesting talks, free Christmas lunch, barbecues, picnics, outings. You can chat to visitors and sit down whenever you want.

I also joined a choir and the U3A. There's countryside walks, oh just so much, I tell you at times it can be quite exhausting.

Pleased it went well and you were happy with the event. How to spend your free time will evolve and you will find a whole new future. Honestly you will wonder how you found time to work. I never believed that statement but I do now lol. Best wishes x
