I was discharged from hospital AF clinic on 19th Told I probably had PAF and if I should have another episode to go to A and E or my GP So can you advise when would this be necessary as I hate hospitals and it makes me very anxious Plus I would probably be there hours like the first time and sent home with different dosage or new pills

As I constantly comment Vonnie, AF is a chronic condition. It is neither an accident nor and emergency and unless you have chest pain or are passing out I would avoid hospital like the plague. In no case have I ever gone straight there but always via my GP and an emergency appointment. That way you arrive expected and with some history if it is needed. OK there are a few amongst us who experience serious pain during AF but for most there is no need.

The thing is that you are not in AF now and although you had that episode a while ago you should now try and forget about it and get on with living your life.

Try your best not to let AF or the threat of it ruin your life.

If it happens Vonnie, try not to panic (I'm a fine one to talk lol) and remember that you're on medication now to protect you and to slow your heart rate down, and that you came through your first episode ok. I get loads of episodes and would only go to A&E if the rate was very high, if I had pain or dizziness or if it didn't stop spontaneously after several hours. Hope you're ok and enjoying the rain x

Loving the rain and listening the thunder Your like me I think and allow anxiety to butt in sometimes It's my curse Like now due to hubby informing me he's off fishing two days this week It's our comfort zone that's been disrupted x

Go to A and E if your pulse rate is high or if you feel unwell- dizzy, pains etc. Try relaxing at home first as this can often bring the rate down and it feels manageable then. Deep breathing, resting, pretending you are blowing a balloon up but keep the air tight- bearing down- all can slow things a bit and make all the difference If you have a plan it will stop you feeling anxious good luck
