Last 5th July 2018 I had a Pacemaker implanted and next 10th August 2018 I am to have the second procedure, AV Node Ablation. In 2000 I had a Mechanical Mitral Valve installed and since then have had problems with AFib. There were 6 successful Cardio Versions, successful for awhile anyway. My cardiologist determined after so much trial and error with medications failing, the last resort would be the PPM with AV Node Ablation. I'm almost 70 years old take Coumadin daily and a little nervous about having it done, complications wise!
Thank you all for accepting me into your Blog and I look forward to many reads from members.

Welcome. This is a great forum. And soon you will be a 'triple' member: Pacemaker, AFib, and Ablation. Hoping all goes well for you. Had my pacer and ablation in 2016. No more meds and feeling better than ever. Take care. irina1975
Hello Cjhall1948 and welcome to this forum, I have found it really friendly and helpful, and I am sure you will too.
I had a CRT Pacemaker with two leads implanted, and an AV Node Ablation, BOTH ON THE SAME DAY, 20th April ‘18. Like you, I was VERY nervous about it, and it’s consequences! As it turns out I am so glad I had these done as I have not felt as well as I do now since being diagnosed with afib in May ‘16.
I had previously had over a dozen electrical cardioversions, and two RF Ablations, all were successful, but not for long :(. The pacemaker and av node ablation were done as my last resort as well.
I wish you all the luck in the world for your node ablation on 10th August (incidentally, I will be 72 on 11th August). I really hope you feel as well as I do afterwards.
Good Luck and I look forward to reading how you got on.
Thank you AvrilB, your note made me feel so optimistic. I can’t begin to tell you how positive I feel now about having this done. Can’t wait for the days to be over of passing out, split scalp, concussion that lasts for weeks, out of breath from making the bed or walking my dog just to our local park, feeling like I’ve ran a marathon and so winded I can barely stand and finally never having my heart act like a crazy jumping bean beating as fast as 200 and then down to 30 all within minutes of each other, phew. You’ve given me hope.
Happy Birthday for the 11th and many more calm days ahead for you.
I’m looking forward to reading and writing on this forum. 💓💓💓
