I am 5th day post op

Was great on the 1 day

But since then breathlessness and the fatigue is increasing

Should I just consider it a heart trying to heal ????

Yes. read our fact sheet on Recovering from Ablation. It will take three to six month for full recovery and maybe even longer so far too early to start worrying. Just rest and then rest some more. We usually say TV remote only week one and week two you may be able to make the tea. EVERYBODY doctors included underestimates recovery from ablation .

I went home same day ablated for SVT. Given Sotalol which makes me weak n tired. Stopped it recently on my own. Love the ideas shared on this site for getting back in NSR.

As Bob says you need to rest. I had my ablation done 6 weeks ago now. I still am breathless though that is improving. The tiredness can be overwhelming still. I’m self employed and live on my own so it can be difficult to take too much time off but I rest when I can.

The information from the hospital is not good following ablation.

Heightened awareness of blips plays a big part from here on in. I would keep a check on your pulse when feeling breathless.

You could expect to see 80 - 100 bpm, If higher or erratic, speak to your arrhythmia nurse.

Hi Manal2018,

I had an aborted Ablation on Jan 17, 2018-excess fluid around my heart & a heart bleed. Intensive care for 5 days with a chest tube to drain off the fluid & blood. Then 2nd try at Ablation (in left Atrium) on Feb 26 & went perfectly!!! Only took 2 hours!!!! Only in hospital overnight. At one month check up, everything was great, then 2 days later, my heart started racing fast with Aflutter in right Atrium, which lasted for nearly 6 weeks. Heart went NSR 3 days before I was scheduled for a Cardio Version & all has been great since. I do have some skipped beats occasionally as I was born with a heart murmur & have had them all my life. They only last a few seconds & don't bother me. I have finally got my energy level almost back to normal!!! Don't rush it!!! Takes a minimum of 90 days for heart to heal & CAN take up to 6 months to a year, depending on your own body!!! I still have occasional twinges which tells me my heart is STILL healing after 4 1/2 months. I still get tired easier than I used to & still not sleeping good, which the sleep thing was happening before the Ablation. Think sleep is just an age thing-I'm 74 & my 91 yr old Mom who had a CABG 4 years ago at 87, has same trouble with sleep. Just be patient, don't overdo. Be kind to yourself & don't get frustrated that you can't do things like you would like to!!!! Best Wishes!!!!
