Cramp whilst in AF

Hello. Does anyone experience cramp whilst having an AF attack? I have severe cramp in my legs if I have an attack during the night, I wonder if this is normal.

Never had it during an attack but I used to get agonising foot and calf cramp at night regularly. I now take magnesium citrate for my ectopics and this may have calmed the cramps too.

I would go for Magnesium Taurate, I believe the most suggested here. I have been taking Nutri Mega Mag Muscleze that has Mg, taurine and other heart goodies, after checking with your medical team and a good Naturopath. Also get a Red Cell Mg test privately (NHS one is not the same and always comes out OK) with BioLab or Medichecks if in the UK. I was running on too low Mg for ages and used to get horrendous cramps, once in both legs at the same time in the swimming pool, embarrassingly the life guard came to check if I was OK!!

Tried Magnesium Citrate capsules. This worked a treat, but costs a fortune. So I have bought a tub of Magnesium Chloride + some fine food measuring spoons, so that I can get smaller portions since one teaspoon = 3.2 grammes therefore one eighth teaspoon = 400mg. There are other cheap ways.

The other possible reason for cramp is potassium, but, supplementing that can be very dangerous, so, simply make sure you are eating enough fruit, nuts, etc.

Dehydration could be the problem, made worse by the AF, especially if you sleep in a warm room.

This could well be the problem especially as I go to the toilet a lot during an AF attack so must become dehydrated. Thank you for your reply.
