Night out
There is always such an appalling lack of non alcoholic beer or wine choices that I usually have lime and soda and I quite like it now. On the odd occasion that I have been lured into a delicious glass of vino I have always regretted it so it isnt worth it. X
Hiya I usually have a Guinness and Blackcurrant it’s very nice 👍
Decaf tea or still water - oh joy!
Haven't had alcohol since Christmas Cannot say I'm missing it really I never drink when on medication any way.
Was thinking of fresh orange mixed with bitter lemon
At skittles I drink pints of orange and lemonade.
Ginger ale 🍺
I have read if you are on apixaban you carnt drink ginger or have ginger that and cranberries I don’t know that you are on apixaban I am so I don’t have them
I thought that was warfarin? I am on Apixaban but hadn't heard that. Any 'natural' anticoagulants in excess would be bad but I doubt there is much real ginger in ginger ale 😀
Blood nurse at hospital just said I could eat and drink anything unlike warfarin
This is the only reference to foods to avoid while on apixaban that I could find.

Hi Vonnie, I usually have a J20 fruit drink.
Hi thanks for the ideas Not that I'm going out but I always had JD or vodka when out with girls from work
Not everyone is affected. I have a scotch and water nightly with the national news.
RiderontheStorm 6pm & 10pm TV news!! Or on the radio every half hour!!
Just once... smile, at 1800, Pacific time. Unless a certain narcissistic bully personality is speaking, then I might have 3.
You ok on 3
I just make sure I do not do that on a regular basis.. So far so good. I have to keep reminding myself I am now over 60. Can't quite get my head around that as I still look like my picture. I did not start drinking alcohol until I was around 40-45 years old.
Couldn't resist. I am in the US (East Coast). I wonder if we are speaking about the same bully. (Orange hair?) I don't drink anymore so if he is on the news I just turn it off to keep my pacemaker rate at 70.
I have my Scotch on the rocks. And wine with dinner. I can’t tell it has an effect on my AFib. Also light and icy is Vodka tonic with lots of lime and little Vodka.
It's my ritual. We know that liquor is cardio toxic and extra calories and if you can go without and be happy, do it! Life is short - eat the bacon I say!
So, Teach yourself not to over do? I have everything I want, I just don't take the whole carton of ice cream to the couch to devour, just a cup! LOL!!! Deprivation does not work in reality.
See where your coming from here All my drinks like tea and coffee are decaffeinated I have done this for years well before AF came Was happy with chocolate till I realised that contains caffeine
I saw my specialist consultant recently who told me not to worry about decaf as it made no material difference ! Frankly I was pleased to hear it and have returned to regular coffee with no negative impact - works for me !
One night three years ago I had one cold beer after doing the gardening and it kicked off an AF episode. haven't touched a drop of any alcohol since but love my hot chocolate and can have three a day, always ask for a skinny one or use 1% Fat milk if I make it myself, it really is my treat and there is only very minimal amount of caffeine ( there is an American brand which is 99% caffeine free!
Caliber NA beer.
I have elderflower cordial with soda water and slice of lime, lovely and refreshing. Some places will make you an elderflower cocktail now as it's become very popular. 🥂
beer
A couple of bottles on non alcoholic beer is fine for me. I’ve tried non alcoholic gin and cider too. Avoid Becks Blue as tastes salty
I haven’t stopped drinking, but I have cut down on alcohol since finding out about my AF. I still drink on special occasions but never allow myself to get too drunk.
I had an ablation almost a year ago now... Although I’m not 100% convinced I’m ‘fixed’ I’m starting to allow myself to enjoy life again (including the odd drink here and there). Being ‘young’ I’m also determined to not let AF get the better of me.
Keep saying that myself but at moment feel my head is telling this but my body is weak
Are you on any meds at the moment? Do you have PAF? When was your last bout?
Don't know what I have Was told by doctor over phone from hospital I had AF and appointment would be made for clinic Still not heard off them Im on Apixaban and Bisoprolol 2.5mg
Hmmm. Perhaps your body is still adjusting to these and making you tired. I didn’t get on with bisoprolol just before my ‘diagnosis’ I was very active but with bisoprolol I couldn’t walk up stairs without getting very out of breath. Actually I didn’t get on well with any of the meds... hence being offered an ablation. It took almost a year for me to get that though. I continued to drink on all meds I tried, just in moderation. I would suggest making sure that those around you are aware that you recently started meds and to look out for you if having a drink! 🙂
I drink non alcoholic cider Kopperberg with dinner at home, ali weekends I have a glass of red wine. I sometimes feel that is is not a good idea and then don’t. I have also had a weak Pimms.
I had an ablation 18 months ago and i now drink Guinness as i class it as a more natural product i get away with about 3 to 4 pints with no adverse affects !!!! And i feel great when i have it which is only at weekends 😁
I was thinking it may help me relax a little I have anxiety to made worse now with AF
With me its not the alcohol but the dehydration the next day that used to set me off sometimes but now i always make sure i have a few drinks of water before i get in bed after a night out and make sure i have a glass of water at the side of the bed for during the night...never had a problem since...fingers crossed
I have white wine with ice and have no problems, we’re all different😀
Guess I won't really know if don't drink alcohol will I
I sometimes feel it'sok to have a small glass of white wine or an occasional G and T but " going out" prior to AF was a trigger for my anxiety so if I'm at all concerned I stick to fizzy water or bottled still water as it looks as if you've got a drink. I'm still going to fat class although at target so don't want empty calories and worry about artificial sweeteners being bad for you
Erdinger Non alcohol is quite nice- guinness have a really nice 0.5% new lager called True Brew - it’s all about not binging really!!! I have recently returned to having one pint of Guinness and it’s perfect and I feel ‘normal ‘ again 👍🏻
Are you on medication to Im just finding things out about this condition you see
Yes - I was put on 2.5 biosop but I could hardly get out of bed with it - I was exhausted constantly and I was experiencing more flutters than ever with a very low HR - I cut the tablet in half myself and took 1.25mg - 100% improvement immediately- I told my EP and he agreed to reduce the doseage to 1.25 biosop 👍🏻
I'm on this dosage 2.5mg Was so tired at first not as bad now but not myself
We are all different and what may suit one person might not suit another person, depending on medications and what type of AF you have . I can not touch caffeine and don’t tolerate sugar as I have tested myself a lot after ablation procedure with these things . However I can tolerate pink gin and slimline tonic water or soda water . I always make sure I drink at least 2 bottles of water before bed and don’t over do things. But if you don’t miss the alcohol then I really wouldn’t bother with it and stick to something you drink at home that you no your ok with as most pubs and restaurants serve majority of drinks nowadays that you can get at home 🙂remember some types of lemonades do have caffeine in them and I would go easy on the sugary drinks 🍹 to but soda water with a load of ice and some fruits in with a splash of maybe lime may be nice 👍🏼 🍓🍋🍒😊
Ablation sx Jan 31, '18. Beer even a sip sets me off. 2-4 oz red wine sipped through the evening is ok, surprisingly another AF friend suggested Sangria! They said the combination of wine and brandy relaxes your vessels. I tried it and I was fine. Still sipping throughout the evening on occasions only. Still cautious.
Manage just one 175ml glass (usually of red wine) each evening with dinner and no effects noticed touch wood .... Like you I'm still getting my head round all the information available.
