I have recently been put on Aspirin 75mg after carotid endarterectomy to clear a blockage in my carotid artery. How dangerous is this & is it likely I need to remain on both ?

EDoxaban & Aspirin
I think that aspirin has a short term role,as an anti plate let medication, alongside our normal anticoagulant, for unusual blood issues.I'm sure someone on here may know more from their own experience s,but of course we are not medics!
Perhaps contact whoever prescribed it for reassurance if your GP if you have confidence in them!
Best wishes
I believe aspirin is used to prevent a build up of plaque in an artery, and to prevent strokes caused by arteriosclerosis. NOACs are used to prevent strokes caused by clots which may develop in the heart as a result of AF. Some people need both if both issues are a problem.
I am guessing that the aspirin may be there to help the artery to heal properly, without a build up of plaque, but it maybe that they want you to stay on it permanently - Ask your doctor to explain the purpose and possible length of treatment.
