Chronic fatigue: Can anyone help.. I... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Chronic fatigue
This is actually a forum for people with atrial fibrillation which is a heart arrhythmia. You may find one for Chronic fatigue if you search healthunlocked.
Does your husband have AF because becoming easily fatigued is a symptom but it isn’t CFS?
Personally I follow Dr Sarah Myhill for CFS - if it is that? Very hard to get a diagnosis and I think you need to have had chronic fatigue for at least 6 months with exercise intolerance.
A lot of information in her book on the science behind it.
Also check out Dr Chaterjee’s book - The 4 Pillar Plan - very easy read.
In my view Functional Medicine and Nutrition is the only way to go as CFS is mitrochondria Dysfunction. Western Medicine has no solutions and even some very bad advice.
Bob - trouble is that most of us with AF could also say we have chronic fatigue!
I just read your previous post - is the fatigue linked to the AF? Is the AF permanent or paroxysmal? How symptomatic is he? How do the drugs affect him?
I couldn’t tolerate many of the drugs and am much, much better without any - other than AntiCoagulants as all treatments for AF are to improve QOL - if you feel worse with the drugs my reasoning is - why take them?
Magnesium should help, and other vitamins. He needs to learn to pace himself ie If he has a given amount of energy on a particular day, then it is essential that he actually uses less than that during the day. Then he will have more the next day and can slowly move up. Just one day of 'doing too much' will set him back - for days or weeks (or even months!)
My husband found walking worked - To the end of the garden or perhaps to the first lamp-post one day, then to the next the next day if possible, and so on, very slowly building up. It helps to get the lymph system moving, which helps to get rid of toxins in the body.
Thankyou
Hi. This may not answer your question but wanted to share just in case. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia-not chronic fatigue- but there can be similar symptoms. I didn't believe it was correct and refused medication. After having a (finally) good thyroid workup, my Vitamin D was found to be severely low and out of range. I was prescribed loading supplements (Vit D 50,000 IU weekly for 8 weeks.) Have 2 more weekly doses to go. After the 3rd weekly dose my tiredness and general muscle aches and pains I have had for so long disappeared. Worth looking into the following levels-often ignored by docs. Vit D, Vit B12, Folate, and Ferritin. Just food for thought. Take care irina PS My a-fib is well controlled by a pacemaker and AV node ablation. I am very stable and neither my EP nor me thought my tiredness and chronic pain was AF related so we kept looking.
Good points.
