Hi. I have had 3 ablations, my EP wants to do a pace and ablate, I already have the pacemaker, but I am concerned as I have read that tachardyia can cause serious problems as slow pumping of blood to the body. Resulting in things like strokes etc.. .i am on exeralto, however I wonder if that is enough as I won,t know if my H R is high after the procedure, as the procedure rids of that feeling, or does the procedure eliminates the possibility of my heart rate rising. At this point my pacemaker keeps me at 60 beats, but doesn’t,t eliminate tachardyia. Thank you for any feedback.

The pacemaker takes over control of your ventricle to ensure a regular rate. The ablation of the AV node means that signals can not get from one part of heh heart to another so that even though your left atrium may still fibrillate the ventricular rate and therefore your pulse will be controlled by the pacemaker. You will therefore be dependent on your PM for all normal purposes although of course you wouldn't die if it stopped working. just have a very low heart rate.
I also had ablation for SVT and take Sotalol 40mg bid. Fear of stroke etc is main worry. Didn't know the ablation could fail or need to be repeated. Statistically, has your EP said what the odds are. Mine was done 16 mths ago.. Starting to feel better.....less sleeping n fatigue. Good luck.
