I am 88 years old with a history of Paroxysmal Afib and as I am getting older the Afib attacks are getting more frequent like one every month that leaves me very weak and dizzy. I am asking if there is anyone out there that is older than me with the same problem?

This is not an answer to your question but I wonder if you are checked regularly by your GP or by a cardiologist?electrophysiologist? That is to say having an echocardiogram,ECG etc.Perhaps something else is amiss. It has been said on this site that AF attacks worsen with age but not with me ......I am approaching 80 but pretty active and certainly not inhibited by AF.

At worst mine are every day so yes, AF is known to be progressive. Yes I am symptomatic.

Are you being treated?

Drink more water. Mine are almost everyday. How long does yours last?

Make sure you don’t get dehydrated-drink water all throughout the day.

I've always drunk a lot of water, during the night and during the day, but now I'm wondering if I'm drinking too much! At night I refill a tall tumbler from the tap about 4 times, which of course has me up to the loo several times. I've just realised that I'm not so much quenching my thirst as clearing a bad taste out of my mouth, which I think is coming from the meds and that maybe this isn't a great idea.

Sorry to hear you are feeling like this Every time I think I have found the answer to my episodes they catch me out again! Have just celebrated my 80th decade but I guess I will just soldier on. Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon 😀

Request an appointment with a cardiologist and discuss your problems and ask what can be done for you. As we age the condition can increase its pace and you need to have it monitored. Mine got intolerant, I was weak from it and life was becoming problematical so I had several appointments and ultimately a pacemaker and it has really helped. I am 74, still a baby lol
