Disappointed

Hi, had my ablation 3 months ago this Friday and apart from a bad AF episode 2 weeks after the ablation and palpatations most days I feel like I've being doing really well. Today I got home from work and went into AF (still in AF as I'm writing this). Is this still normal nearly 3 months along as I'm nearly at the end of my blanking period. Does this mean the ablation hasn't worked as well as the EP thought? 😩

Not necessarily Julia, it can take 6 months and sometimes longer for the scar tissue to form which prevent the rogue impulses which cause AF, so it's early days. It might be worth contacting your EP's secretary or the Arrhythmia Nurse attached to your hospital to ask about being prescribed a PiP (pill in pocket) which should prevent the episodes from continuing for too long. However, it is still early days, so try not to worry......anxiety increases blood pressure and that is not helpful....easy to say I know, I've been there too!!

Thank you for the reply. If I know it's still early days I won't worry so much. Thanks for the reassurance FlapJack. X

I have some they knew that failed within the thirty days. Ok not failed just needed a touchup. I do think in some cases they can tell it will need a touchup fairly quickly. As I have said before I was a problem child with 5 ablations.

So sorry you have had a couple of AF episodes - it can be discouraging. I had my ablation over 6 months ago and no fibrillation yet. But do still get bad indigestion some nights. I'm sure your situation will improve - hang in there.
