Enlarged left atrium and moderate hypertrophy of RV wall

Hi.

I was diagnosed with atrial flutter in 2014 and had 2 ablationd one in 2015 and other in 2016. Cardiologist said my atrial flutter could be from ASD repair I had 30 years back. My right atrium was mildly enlarged because of open heart surgery. My cardiologist said not to worry and monitor. Recently I went to see a pulmonologist as I had chronic cough for 7 months which started initially when I had a viral fever and was never resolved. He did an echo and said my right atrium is severely enlarged and moderate hypertrophy of right ventricular free wall. He recommended to see my cardiologist.

I am very concerned and been worried sick for about a week. I get these feelings like this is it am I going to die of heart failure or some heart condition. Has anyone has RB hypertrophy and live normal life. Is it dangerous

I have an appointment with cardiologist on 3/27.

Sorry for the long post

Thank you for reading

I'm sorry you are so worried- mild and moderate are often not critical - the RA enlargement has progressed but may be just your recent illness- it's not long until your appt so hang on in there. You've done very well with your heart problems over the years- how do you actually feel now- quite important I think...

Thank you rosy for your response. I do get palpitations in the neck and cough. Cough - sometimes I go with out coughing for hours and then it will start mostly at night when I am sleeping. Sometimes I feel tired . I had a dizzy spell 3 weeks back and I was normal as soon as I ate breakfast. I am not sure if my dizzy spell related to blood sugar being low or my heart. Eversince I heard my echo report I keep feeling more signs I am not sure it is because I am worried so much or I am really having those signs.

I have to see what my cardiologist say. My pulmonologist said next step is right heart cathetrization. I have an appointment with my EP on 3/30 . I need to wait and see what they will say

I have been attending cardiology lectures at the RSM where i am an associate member ( non doctor) - for trainees -( they must wonder who am!!) and have marvelled at the procedures the cardiologists can do now whereas when i was young and worked in the NHS there was little that could be done for many conditions- so be hopeful!!
