Hello and welcome!
seems that is a pretty common reaction, as I am sure others will tell you too! You are among friends on here as we have all been (and going through it!). And I will bet all of us, get those "middle of the night" thoughts from time to time.
Read as much as you can, get to really know your condition, ask questions etc.,
There is nothing like sharinf feelings with folks that understand.

I’m with Wightbaby, good advice. Some things to bear in mind, all based on boring statistics, but well worth considering. Well over 1M folk suffer from AF in the UK and around another 200k have it and don’t know it! Around 12k have joined this forum of which only a relatively small number are active participant. So maybe this means the majority are suffering in silence or they are able to enjoy a relatively normal existence. That said, anxiety and fear of the unknown (after all, we only have one heart) is very common and will take a bit of time to come to terms with. The other bit of important information is that, to the best of our knowledge, no one has ever died from AF. However, AF does significantly increase the risk of stroke, particularly as you get older or maybe have other unhelpful health conditions, but hopefully by now you have discussed this with your doctor.
As suggested, find out as much as you can on the AF Association webpages and just ask if you need help on anything you not sure about. Hope this helps for starters.......
Thanks again, glad im able to communicate with others with AF,
I 've reduced my episodes by increasing potassium in food. Jacket potato, salmon, fruit and veg.
check out Dr Sanjay Gupta's you tube channel, lots of good advice and reassurance. Stick to clean diet no processed rubbish, plenty of sleep and take the meds given and if you can build in some regular exercise !

My Naturopath thinks I overthink too, I tell him that's how I got to consulting him! Persistence is a virtue here and the good news.... there is a lot to try which I am convinced has kept my AF quiet for 4 years and has many good effects on the rest of the body. Good luck!
Another vote for reading as much as you can on here and the AFA website, and also another vote for Dr Gupta's YouTube channel. He talks a lot of sense. Mind you don't confuse him with the American version, he's not a heart specialist. It's the one at York Cardiology that you want.
The fear and the anxiety are best met with knowledge, and knowledge is power. I take great comfort in knowing exactly what my heart is up to when I need to know, and carry a Kardia machine on my mobile phone for that. Not everyone thinks this is a good idea, but I only bother with it when I need to.
