Does anyone have any idea which of these two drugs has the least side effects on your heart amitriptyline or nortriptyline I am on 10 mg amitriptyline but it isn’t enough for the nerve pain I get but dr doesn’t want me to up the dosage because of the afib but I was told a few years ago that nortriptyline has less side effects but at that time did not have afib and was wondering if it also included having less side effects on your heart than amitriptyline

Afib
I could not take either one, but My afib is highly sensitive.
I saw my dr yesterday and she said try putting it up to 20 mg and see if it helps your pain but if it starts your afib off you must go back to 10 mg also if it doesn’t help the pain then go back to 10 mg so I’m hoping that I will be ok for pain relief and also that it doesn’t start my afib of the funny thing when I had my first attack I was in Eastbourne and was in hospital there for three days and they New I was taking 10 mg at that time and never once said it could have had anything to do with my afib in fact they thought it was probably the coffee that I’d had just before it started so I have to have decaf tea and coffee the consultant that came round ignored it when they asked about what medications I was taking and since I’ve read occasionally it can effect afib so perhaps it’s a bit like I know of someone who cannot eat a curry or it starts there afib off and I was taking amitriptyline during the time I was in hospital and it wasn’t until I read about it on the net and mentioned it to a dr that I saw that she stopped it but I asked to go back on it and have been fine with my afib upto now
