My mother-in-law has just been diagnosed with PAF and I wondered if anyone could please recommend a good EP at Derriford Hospital?
Tim
Hello Tim - I'm under the care of Dr. Guy Haywood at Derriford - he's very professional experienced and caring consultant. I've also found the Arythmia specialist nurses to be a great help also.
Best wishes Cathy.
Hi Tim
I had Dr Tomlinson I had flutter ablation and full ablation 6 months after. I had bit of shock when I seen him he looked young enough to be still in school. I supose it shows my age. But he was excellent explain everything in plain English. He gave me lot of confidence to go ahead To be honest I have heard all good about Dr Guy Haywood as well
Good luck Carol B
Yes Carol I guess it does. I met him about seven years ago at a conference soon after he was appointed there and he was probably about forty then. I agree he is very youthful mind.
Tomlinson for me too. First met him after gp/ambulance admission to Derriford. Was impressed by his direct, assertive manner. Now on (very long 18 weeks minimum) waiting list to see him as out patient.
Good morning Carol and thank you for the recommendation. Do you know if he takes private patients?
Tim
Yes he does he is very very kind and caring
Carol x
Thank you Carol.
Good morning Cathy. Thank you so much for this its good to know. She has yet to have follow up tests so it will be a while before she sees anyone. Do you know if he takes any private patients as she does have private medical insurance.
Tim
Yes Tim Dr.Haywood does take private patients - I saw him privately for my first consultation as the NHS waiting list was so long and I was anxious to be seen - I saw him at the Nuffield. He did say he wouldn't be able to do the Ablation I required privately as he didn't have any private beds in cardiology in Plymouth - so I went onto the NHS list - if I'd wanted to continue privately I think he said he'd have to do the procedure in Cardiff or Southampton ( I think I've remembered those two centres correctly).
Hope that helps - regards Cathy
Hi Tim I am also under dr Haywood and find him very good hope this help but you and mother in law have to be happy with who you choose (if you can choose these days ) you don't always see him depending what is going on but you do see one of his team who are I feel is good also if they have a problem they nip in other room to ask his advice
I am now 72 and have been seeing him for years
Hope you get on OK June
