Hi Hertbeat321 :-) I have been taking Nebivolol 2.5 once a day for almost 8 months. I have asthma and Nebivolol is usually better tolerated by asthmatics. I started taking Apixaban at the same time and a few weeks later began getting headaches which lasted for about 3 weeks, I have been ok since.

I had high blood pressure which has come down to a respectable level since I have been on Nebivolol and I have only had one severe prolonged episode of P-AF . I get small episodes (affecting just rhythm rather than rhythm and rate ) and ectopics but they don't bother me now.

From the things I have read on here I consider myself lucky to be on Nabivolol and not one of the other beta blockers.

Hi Doodle - I am thinking of asking to be put on Nabivolol because of breathing problems as I have AF and heart failure and get a bit breathless and weezy and I think the Bisoprolol is making it worse. Has it worked well for you. I beleive that it is quite a bit more expensive than Biso.

Hi Cassie :-) I don't have the same medical problems as yourself and yes I think Nabivolol has worked for me but I don't know if it would improve your particular condition. It is worth discussing with your doctor .

I'm on nebivolol after bisoprolol almost killed me (I'm asthmatic) and verapamil lost its effectiveness over time. However although I started on 2.5mg, I've had to slowly raise the dose to 10mg, taken in 5mg morning and evening as it wears off in about 18 hours. However the higher dose has meant I no longer need ramapril to reduce my BP.

Hi Mike :-) 2.5 was meant to be a starting dose for me to be titrated upwards once it was ascertained the drug produced no additional wheezing. Since I was prescribed the meds in a clinic I haven't seen anyone to assess if a changed dose is required. Unless there is a sudden deterioration in my condition I am only seen by an arrhythmia nurse on behalf of a consultant once a year.

When you say 'it wears off in 18 hours' in what way. Does your BP rise.

I've had a heart attack and subsequent bypass and my heart lets me know if I've missed a tablet with an angina attack.

Hi Mike :-) thanks for the reply, we have different conditions then. I would be scared to miss a dose in case it sends my BP up and triggers a bad episode of P-AF . I guess if my BP starts to rise the dose will go up but I am trying to prevent that happening with lifestyle changes.

Yes always best to address lifestyle first to keep drugs to the minimum necessary. I was very fit before my heart attack but as the cardiac nurse so tactfully put it, being able to lift 50kg all day was the wrong sort of fitness. So now I walk three miles a day and have made diet changes as well.

I have taken nabivolol for a couple of years now , started at 5 and have reduced it to 1.5. It does still make me dizzy though.

I have been taking Nebivolol for about 4 months now as I couldn’t get on with Amiodarone. I find Nebivolol suits me fine I take Apixaban and also Prednisolone for Vasculitis which is in remission at the moment but I haven’t had any side effects from Nebivolol. Good luck Judes

Had same problems with Bisoprolol so have changed to 25mg Atenolol when required and no problems since changing.

My cardiologist has just transferred me to this drug and I have no side effects at present. I am usually sensitive to most drugs so this has come as a welcome change.
