Advice on consultant appointment?

Hi everyone, Not been on here for a while, hope your all doing well x

I am due to have my appointment with my consultant this Thursday, with my surgeon that has done both ablations. It will be 8 months since my second Ablation, I am without my arrhythmic Meds now but have them in the house just in case. I feel thuds, racing heart and missed beats every day still and at times like I am going to start heart flips and it takes my breath away. This appointment maybe discharge appointment and was wondering what final questions should I ask? I was told last time I am too heart aware, but I find it hard not to ignore symptoms if they suddenly come on out of nowhere, I don't panic but wonder when anything starts has it come back or am I going to go into a long stretch of bad rhythm? The longest has been a few hours but not as frequent as before. Any advice much appreciated re questions as my dad had a triple heart by pass and my mum had a f and suffered a massive stroke. Thank you x

We AFers are our own worst enemies are we not? Its been none years since my AF went but I still feel every ectopic. You do get used to it in the end and I think the secret is to keep busy and not dwell on it. There are some strategies you can employ if you search anxiety at top right which can help allow you to get on with your life.

On a practical note ask your EP is you can contact him in the future if things deteriorate. That at least gives you some comfort.

Thank you Bob for your advice, yes I will do that. I tend not to dwell on it, only when something starts do I wonder. But I will look up those coping tips, thanks Bob and have a good Christmas xx

Hello Lynne, just a thought, but it might be worth making sure you tell him what you have told us so that he understands your concerns and your family history. He is like to say that the important thing is that there has been no arrythmia, but I'm 18 months since my ablation and have not been discharged yet. Ask him if there is any access to an Arrythmia Nurse, but as Bob suggests, do everything you can to keep the door open......have a great Christmas holiday.....

ps. maybe you could ask him about the pill in pocket option just in case.......

Yes thank you good idea, I will ask him about an arrhythmia nurse contact and pull in the pocket and yes will mention pull in the pocket option. Maybe I better note this down cos you quite often go in and forget what you were going to ask. You too have a good Christmas. Thank you. 👍🏻
