I think it is quite rare but I have heard of a few people complain of this. Any chest pain with AF should always be checked out to ensure nothing else is going on.
If I checked out every time I got chest pain, I'd be in hospital 24/7 during every attack. I'm back in sinus now and had quite a nasty crushing pain today. Lasted about 45 secs.
You should get it checked out once! If it is a one off it may be ok but repeat spasms need checking. I was trying to ignore mine but when ordered to go to hospital by my GP it was found I had signs of a heart attack. An angiogram didn't show a clot but the effect was the same. Once you know your arteries are clear then maybe you can ignore it, but you should at least mention it to your GP.
PS I had what I was sure was muscle spasms around my chest area with AF but sometimes it is difficult to know if it is surface muscle or internal heart causing the pain. I was sure it was muscle because I had exercised that day.
