I have always had a pet theory that having measles very badly aged 12 affected my heart, only because I first noticed ectopics just after I recovered. According the the NHS measles can (rarely) have a permanent effect on the heart and nervous system.
So just wondering if anyone else, thinking back, can see a connection? I know some other illnesses that develop later in life have suspected links to viruses suffered years earlier.

As far as I was aware , the only disease in later life linked to a childhood illness is shingles which is the same virus as chickenpox. I never had CP as a child but rather sadly caught it from a nephew when I was 35. Not a great idea I can assure you. Was off work for a month and several times during that period really wanted to die!
Can’t remember to be honest but can say when I had mild case of shingles a few years ago it irritated by heart.
Diphtheria was the main childhood disease which affects the heart and my OH was in a fever hospital with 2 broken arms at same time as a child & he always blames his heart issues on that.
I had measles’s as a youngster but cannot recall any following problems with the heart etc. I have not ever had chicken pox though. but my partner does get shingles and the doctors have told me that if I get chicken pox or shingles at my age 50s then it wouldn’t be good.😳I’m hoping I’m some how naturally immune to it after 20 years.? I did suggest she lived in the garage when she gets a flare up but she wasn’t impressed.
