Hi, Since both can have a food trigger, there could be a link there for some people, perhaps? For me it was a turning point when I realised that fructose was one of the factors in my PAF. Managing my diet for fructose intolerance reduced symptoms before and after ablation. Always worth considering the possibility of a food factor, I think.

Thanks

I think you are right also my EP doctor mentioned similar issue

Usually when I had migraine I had also ectopic beats , usually chocolate , nuts , coke, banana , mango , grapes , noodles ... Big list trigger my migraine and it is increasing by age

I don't know if tests can show these food list

I think in some cases gluten may be one factor as it can stop absorption of nutrients in gluten sensitive people and undiagonosed ceoliacs.

Chocolate, possibly sugar, is a definite trigger for me. It's good to try to make a list and avoid them (sadly)...

Hi Maitha,

I have suffered from migraine attacks since my early 20's. Have never been aware of any link between that and my AF, originally paroxysmal, now permanent. Since I also have heart block I was never too aware of being in AF apart from some dizzy spells, breathlessness and palpitations. An engineer I once worked with said that the migraine pain would get less as I got older( now 70). He was right, I very rarely get pain now, only the visual disturbance. Also as long as I keep my INR between 2.5 and 3 I very rarely get migraine attacks. Warfarin has been the best migraine treatment I've ever had. If my INR falls to around 2.0 or if it dips lower then the migraines start again. My trigers for migraine were Rhubarb crumble and liquorice both of which I loved but just have to steer clear of now.

Very interesting your link between migraine and warfarin !

Also my migraine started when I was 18 years old , and I had PAF before two years only

Main triggers for my migraine are food

I just noticed recently that ectopic beats increases during and before migraine

I'm now in 48 and still the migraine is ongoing attacks and recently increased after starting sotalol specially the aura

I'm on warfarin also since 13 years and didn't link it to migraine , but noticed a link between INR level and ectopic beats but none of my doctors agreed with me

The link may be the food which trigger the migraine sI it may trigger other irrythemia too

Thank you dear

Did you know that liquorice takes the potassium out of your body. Especially bad if you are on a diuretic.

Oh! Didn't know that Lucybod, although I don't touch it now. My wife does eat quite a lot of it. Need to tell her.

I noticed my migraine trigger food are nuts, banana , chocolates , some canned food ,,,,,,,,, I guess all had potassium and magnesium , I guess that can link it to AF trigger ?

Am I right ?

Your feedback confirming that link indirect way

It is hard for me to understand all mentioned details , but as a patient I noticed that during migraine days my ectopic beats increases a lot and sometime trigger the flutter

My migraine with aura usually and sometimes without headache I read they call it hidden migraine where all other symptoms are there such as flash lights , half vision , dizziness , chest tightness , numbness in figures , feet , tongue and lips , upset stomach , digestion problems ,90% of my migraine linked to food

I'm trying my best to avoid those triggers as much as possible , it look like I will end with eating grass lol

Thanks and regards

Did you link you migraine with food ?

What I think that food trigger migraine then migraine trigger irregular beats and other type of irrethemia , since all are related to blood flow in our bodies

I'm not a doctor but sometimes as a patient I think I understand my body more .

I read about hidden migraine in the migraine group in the same forum here

I would explore laser terapy I have migraine and probably I will give it a go as some kind of light laser can be very effective on migraine , my migraine is being diagnosed by a neurologist in Harley street in London I done also a MRI scan but my brain is fine just migraine that effect my vision like a can focus so well like before , I also being to see an optamologist but he told me your vision is perfect. I strongly believe there are link between AF and migraine as my migraine start with it .

Mine too, if I train hard for a few days then have a very restful day, that's when they hit, either migraine or PAF, it's as if my body is making adrenaline but not using it so it causes problems.

Also bananas :-)
