I have had AF for about 5 years after having a bad virus , I had an ablation about 6 months ago followed by a cardio version. It didn’t work and I was still exhausted most days . My doctor said they could try another cardio version, however when I went into hospital to have it ,I was sent for an ECG and my heart had somehow went back to normal , I never even noticed so gathering it had just happened that day , it’s only been 4 weeks but so far so good ...my question to all you knowledgeable people is , should I risk excersise or still take it easy , I’m not over weight I eat a healthy diet don’t smoke or drink ..fingers crossed this lasts as I feel great now ....happy Xmas all

I would say it depends upon what sort of exercise?
I would suggest a graded gentle to mosderate exercise and stopping before you get tired. Walking is good exercise. If you mean heavy gym work, weight lifting or endurance exercise then I would think that may not be a good idea. Your body needs to adjust.
And ensure you stay very well hydrated.
Sitting still for too long and not moving is also not a good idea to help your heart.
Hi Betty
I would start with gentle exercise and build up very slowly. I walked up a steep hill in a garden the day after my last cardioversion and my heart immediately went back into AF. I can tell you I was devastated!
Certainly let your heart muscles get stronger beating in a normal way before attempting anything strenuous. After all there's no hurry, especially if it may send your heart back into AF.
Best wishes.
