Second Catheter Ablation

I had my second Catheter Ablation five weeks ago. My first ablation was performed in January 2016, After 6 month's of missing pulse and chest flutters they decided to perform a 2nd Ablation on the 13th, September 2017 to stop me returning to full blown A-Fib. As before, I started to get the above mentioned symptoms and breathlessness whether active or not, it's just more intense when you are doing small jobs like changing the bed linen, washing and climbing the stairs etc. The symptoms appear to start 3-4 weeks after the procedure when the scar tissue starts the long process of healing. I was told to stop Flecainide. After the first month, I reduced the dose gradually, taking 50mg in the morning and omitting the nightly tab for a few days, last Monday I stopped it all together. I try to get out and about, it's difficult at the moment with these symptoms but I almost force myself at least one a week. I'm expecting a long haul to recovery, anywhere from 3-6 month's according to my experience and the various script that I've read. I'd appreciate dialogue with anyone who needs help or can advise me further.

I had 2 ablations for AF in 2014, then after further onsets of fast AF I was told it was more likely flutter, and the flecanide I had been on was making it worse. So 4 weeks ago I had further ablation to correct the flutter.

I have found it difficult being back on medications this time, compared with 2 years ago. Primarily because I now have a young family, and the levels of Bisoprolol are quite high, and I no longer take other medications at night time to help me sleep due to the baby.

Even now, a month after the latest ablation, I get fatigued very easily and I'm usually ready for bed at 8pm, or 12 hours after I woke up whichever is later.

I have had Afib since 2006. Took Toprol succinate 50mg once daily and when had an episode, I took another one and waited and waited, sometimes for 20 hours until it subsided. Then 2 years ago, after a bad episode where I fainted and cut my skull, I was switched to Flecainide 100mg twice daily. Have not had any episode of Afib since then. Heard of another person who has been afib free for three years. So I am very relieved........so far. Good Luck. I guess Flecainide works better in some than others. I am 76. Am still on warf (5mg daily) and monitor my own INR.
