Just want to see if anyone has any experience of this. I have intermittent A fib. My heart goes up to 220 plus and down to 30 - it is intermittent every couple of days and reverts itself. I am now on Bisopropol 2.5mg and blood thinners. I am still getting palpitations but general heart rate is slower. Going for a cardioversion in the next few weeks. I am 42
But just wondering why cardiovert if I go in and out of AFib surely I may just revert back to non sinus rhythm a day after the procedure??
Anyone have any experience of this
Thanks

You can only be cardioverted if you are in arrhythmia at the time. If you are paroxysmal as you say there is no point. You should also be on anticoagulation for at least a month prior to any cardioversion to guard against possible stroke causing clots. Something is wrong here either in terminology or understanding?
Thanks Bob. I am on anticoagulant in advance. The consultant knows I am intermittent because it showed on the holter reading. And my last holter reading was in sinus. Anyway hopefully I will be in sinus rhythm on the day and there will be no need. Fingers crossed. Thanks both for responding. 😀
I haven't had ablation and just have occasional episodes of AF ( no meds except a NOAC) - I am very cautious about ablation because of the risks but would have it if I had frequent episodes. The reason I asked you is because you are very young to have meds all your life as they can affect you badly. Difficult one but wanted to make sure you are being given all the options! I hope you get sorted out
