Advice?

On apixiban and still struggling with it! Had my HB checked it was 14.5last may this august its down to 11.6 dropped a fair bit .im a nurse and it's go me baffled no bleeding that I'm aware of ? Feel exhausted and tiny bit breathless at times.want off this drug and to change to another noacs.thanks

That seems very low. Mine is also low and I struggle to keep it above 20, which my neuro says is barely acceptable. But I don't put it down to Apixaban. I had full GI analysis done and think it was down to absorption issues which was preventing me from absorbing short chain fatty issues and bad gut flora. I have been taking a supplement to block the enzyme and changed my diet to include more red meat and since then it is very slowly maintaining minimum levels.

What is HB? and how do you get it checked I have been on Apixaban for three years and never had a check.

Haemglobin red blood cells .

It's not likely the apixaban that is the source of your issues.

Just guessing that low hemoglobin while taking NOAC may be sign of bleeding somewhere at the body.

I know I'm a nurse so abit worried,going to get it checked out .
