Major Surgery Jitters

Last April I had a TIA which led to the discovery of sever Mitral Valve Stenosis with regurgitation. It affected the Mitral Valve. I am currently on meds to treat AF, Blood thinners and a water pill. On October 3rd I am scheduled for a bowel resection that is needed for a bowel obstruction and active inflammation from Crohn's Disease. The surgery is 3.5 hours and I will be put in intensive care for the first 3 days. This has made me extremely nervious as I will not be having the Valve replaced until I have completely healed from my current surgery (about 6 months). I was wondering if anyone else has had a related problem where they needed major surgery while having a diseased heart.

Just to let you know that you are not being ignored, I guess most others that have been on the forum today are like me and haven't experienced what you are describing. I'm sure someone will soon log on, see your post and be able to advise.

Best wishes.

Jean
