Please can I scream with frustration?????

My cardioilogist transferred me to another local hospital who have a fantastic reputation

for dealing with Afib. I saw a registrar in June - who let's keep this polite - still needs

a lot of training. So I made a private appointment in August with the EP - he said he recommends either a pacemaker or ablation. I went for the pacemaker. According to him I shouldn't have to wait more than a few weeks. He copied me in on the letter, he sent to my GP and original cardiologist. Nearly three weeks later, having heard nothing, I range his secretary this morning, to be told I am not on any waiting list at all!!!!!!!. The EP is not in until Monday, when she will ask him about it. Luckily I have not yet received his bill, and my inclination at the moment is when I do, not to pay it.

Thank you for reading this, I need the steam to stop coming out of my ears, and to calm down.

I can fully understand your frustration having fallen off the radar myself... Be prepared for a wait of 12 to 16 weeks if you are having the pacemaker on the NHS and you are not considered urgent. Unless your local hospital has more resources than mine!

My pacemaker 'as a matter of some urgency' was seven weeks.

Hi 2564, I thought a pacemaker wouldn't help stop afib. They sound quite incompetent not to have you on the list, it must be so frustrating so hope you get it sorted out.

I feel your frustration. I had a private non cardiac appointment yesterday, should have saved my money. Took ages to get through to make an appointment as bad as NHS. Actual app waste of time and money, disinterested consultant, never looked me on the eye, clueless about my condition he said. So frustrated like you.

Hope you get a resolution quickly. Three weeks ago I had gone missing off an NHS waiting list too argh.

Ooh errr. I had never thought that this could happen. We must stay vigilant that we are put on the list when told we will be. DiY NHS anyone?

Unfortunately it's typical of medicine in this country. The doctors and their secretaries are all very poor at administration. I see it time and time again. Failed appointments, scans not done, being lost in the system, etc. It happens with the private sector as well as the NHS. Their secretaries who should make sure all the tests are planned and booked are not of very good quality, often only working part time. The doctors are too tied up in their own bubble to dirty their hands with admin!

Rant over!
