Hello. I am to have ablation for afib (again) tommorrow morning on right side. Not that I have a choice, but is it better to be normal or in afib when they do the ablation?
Thank you , Marney.

Hello Marney
Of course we are not doctors and I expect there is a medical preference.
All I can tell you is that my EP did say to me that it was useful for me to still be in Atrial Tachycardia last week and so far all is well after my ablation.
On previous occasions when I had AF but was in NSR when I was admitted I believe they had to induce the AF to identify the areas to ablate and then they cardiverted me with a shock to return me to NSR.
It is all very complex and if I were you I would just go with the flow - what will be will be.
Best wishes for tomorrow.
Pete
Thank you pottypete1. Hopefully it won,t matter too much either way, as I won,t have a choice. Your comment helps calm me. Thanks again. Marney
How exactly is being in tachycardia useful?
The reentrant circuits do not need to be stressed with tachycardia to detect perpetuation.
You made a statement back it with a clinical study please or some kind of EP white paper.
This constitutes my one post for today. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Agree with Pete, in my case I was in NSR but the put me into AF, I guess it's then easier to determine the areas they need to ablate. Best of luck for tomorrow, you probably know the rules, do nothing for the first week and not a lot more for the second and let us know how you get on....John
Thanks flapjack. I definitely will abide the rules. I want a quality of life. Marney
Marney it makes no difference as they use a clever infusion to trigger AF if they need to . By the way. AF ablation is usually in your left side with flutter done in the right. Take it easy afterwards won't you.
Good luck Marney and please let us know how it all goes.
Jean
good luck!
Hi Marney wishing you a speedy recovery after your procedure...
Thank you doodle68. Marney
Best of luck tomorrow
Thank you beehive1. Marney
Sometimes it is better to be in afib or flutter if you have a type that tends to hide. However, as others have said they will induce it if need be.
Hi Azriverrat. I am definitely not hidden in my afib, however, I am not in afib at this moment ,so they may induce me into afib tommorrow morning.
Thanks for your comments, they are always welcome.
I am having the ablation at a really great hospital in Ontario Canada that is recognized for its heart surgery and ablation procedures.
Thanks again, Marney.
So was Cleveland Clinic until they pushed Andre Natale out the door. Andre is a nice mannerly person who even the Prince would approve.
Hi Marney,
I have my first ablation tomorrow morning,So thanks for asking that specific question as I was rather worried, but a lot calmer after Pete's reply, thanks Peter.
I hope your procedure goes really well and that it does the trick.
All the best

I have my first one in the morning 🤞🏼❤️good luck with everything. I am very nervous 😩
Well wishes for a successful procedure and speedy recovery! My electro cardiologist put me on meds to be in rhythem for 3 months prior to my ablation. (I had been out of rhythem for or more than a year.) I think Pete is right and whether you are In or Out, they can do a good job.
Thanks Amydandy. Glad when it's over and can get back to normality : I HOPE: Marney
Wishing you the best, and a speedy recovery!
Hope everything goes OK, mine is due next Friday, so going through the same worries as you....
