Ablation

Has anyone ever heard of an EP that said he ablates all the nerve endings and not just finding the one misfiring and ablating just that one. That is the reason I don't want to have an ablation as I see no reason for someone to do that. I have paraximal A Fib and only happens every few weeks and never lasts more than a couple hours so I can live with that. Besides from what I have read in here ablation doesn't really cure the A Fib anyway.

It really doesn't work like that. Read the AF Association booklet on ablation and you will understand.

They could be referring to the pulmonary veins where the endings of all 4 are ablated to isolate the PVs and stop them causing premature contractions in the atria. All 4 are ablated regardless of whether a particular PV is causing the problem.

Personally I would hold on, look at what's causing your inflammation (see previous topics) and try and do something about those first.

Yes I need to read up more on what actually happens during an abalation. Sometimes when I go weeks with no episodes I tell myself wow maybe it has gone away for good then out of the blue here it comes. But I have learned to deal with it and not stress out and with a little deep breathing it goes away. Much better now than when I was first diagnosed.

I was progressive also. I went about 17 months before an AF re occurrence after my first AF documented event and on several medications . As time went on the events slid closer together and lasted longer requiring cardioversion. It only get worse with time and not better. When you decide to make an intervention with Ablation is risk management. My EP thinks I am 85% one time only and done. It all depends on how you are doing, age and overall health. You might stay static for years and years, or not. I decided it was the right time for me. Clear 8 months now and NO MEDS of any kind needed. It was the right thing to do. Good luck.

Sounds a lot like the procedure I had done.... standard PV ablation plus I had my gsnglionated plexus nerve endings ablated... but only the ones that showed up on new scan I had
