Hi I've been taking citalopram 10mg for the last 5 years or so for anxiety & I have not suffered any of the side affects mentioned on the internet.

They can take a while to get used to, for me about three weeks. But once into the groove all was well. I took a much higher dose than you too. Just try them and don't expect an instant response. You'll be fine.

Hello, I am a pharmacist and I should tell you that it is not recommended to combine St. John's wart with citalopram. You increase the likelihood of unwanted side effects including the potentially dangerous serotonin syndrome.

Don't take with over the counter remedies. When they are prescribed your usual meds are considered. I took for six months made me feel a lot better took about a month before I started to feel the benefit

I took Citalopram for around 7 years and was ok with it, no side effects.

I am sure others will correct me if I am wrong but I didn't think it advisable to take St John's Wort when you have any heart problems, A/F or any other.

I thought that also.

Make sure St John's Wort is out of your system before commencing Citalopram. Check half life. If you are worried about side effects you are more likely to get them. A lot of medications take a couple of weeks to get used to, so if you find you need them give it a go and stay with it knowing it will improve.

Hi I took Citalopram last year the lowest does for mild depression due to familar problems and my Dad's death. I only stayed on them for about 8 months and they helped take the edge of things. No side effects, I also take biso, dilizaem ramipril and rivaroxaban. After I decided to stop taking them , gradually reduced the dose over a few weeks and all is fine. So I would say give it ago and see if it helps.
