Hi my af has just started again,I have taken extra fleccainade, how long should I wait before going hospital
Af started up: Hi my af has just... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Af started up
From my experience takes about 1-1.5 hrs to take effect. Wikipedia says peak serum is between 1 and 6 hrs.
I have to regularly take an extra 50 mg of flecainide and fine it takes an hour or so to kick in. I try to remember that it will stop the battle going on......eventually. Stay well x . Blue 😊
Hi Audrey, I see you posted this on the forum 8 hours ago and am just wondering how you are now and whether you still need any advice? I never go straight to A&E without being advised to do so, I always ring for advice be it from my GP or if out of hours the NHS helpline 111.
Hope your heart has reverted to normal rhythm, please let us know.
Jean
Hi, I'm jean Jeanie too, lol
Looking after my brov who has just started with AF
On beta blocker 2.5 and digoxin got him back to nsr but had a fright about a car and got real upset , set it off again took him in A&E and it settled after a day or so no change to meds
The bisophlol gave him a night mare the other night and restarted his af 104 hr, blood pressure 109/70
But other than a miserable cos it there again , he feels ok no breathlessness
Is NHS 111 helpful?
Regards
JJ
I've always found NHS 111 very helpful. You give your details and then a doctor will call you back very soon after. They will also call an ambulance if they think it's necessary. I never concern myself too much with my heart rate unless it goes over around 130 or is making me feel faint.

Thanks Jean, still feel bit rough but all ok now,I did ring for ambulance as my blood pressure went to 208/99,but after waiting 3 hrs I cancelled it.is it normal for B/P to go that high during AF Jean.I suffer from anxiety neurosis, which always makes it worse.
Well I don't know about you, but with me any stress causes my BP to go sky high. I remember going to hospital in an ambulance and the BP alarm was sounding. I 'thought' I'd had a stroke, because when I rang the 111 number that was what had been suggested was wrong with me. Stroke is the worst word I can hear, having worked in a nursing home and witnessed what a stroke can do to you! In fact there was nothing wrong with me at all and I was totally responsible for creating my high BP. So for you worrying about your heart rate could probably have sent your BP high.
The normal pulse rate is between 60-100 and if mine were to be just over 100 I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'd only be concerned if it were making me feel ill or faint.
