I have searched this and in general and found some information but nothing that quite addresses my question.
I am soon due to have an MRI scan on my head (don't need the obvious responses, thank you) and my question is if this creates any kind of trigger for AF? I assume not but feel it is worth checking. Advice would be appreciated, thanks.
I had a scan of my head last year. It did not trigger my AF.
The scanners clank a lot. You will be offered headphones and music. I would suggest that foam earplugs are better. Scans take ages so you should go there with an empty bladder.
I had an MRI recently on my middle area so quite close to my heart. I didn't have any problem whatsoever with my af, it was neither triggered by the MRI or by my stress levels which were extremely high.
I mentioned it to the technicians beforehand and they reassured me that the MRI would not cause af to be triggered. I hope this helps. Good luck with your scan. I have had numerous scans in recent times and not had them trigger my af.
I just had one a few weeks ago and no, it was not a problem in any shape or form - unless you don't like confined spaces of course - then it could be possibility if you get anxious.
I just got bored as it takes about 20 mins and is quite noisy but they do give you headphones and play music.
I had one to check tinnitus in just one ear was not symptomatic of another issue. Did not affect or cause any AF. As mentioned its noisy so make sure the earplugs are properly in place and ask how long your scan is for, mine was quite short at around 10 mins.
I found it quite useful when I had an MRI scan that the technician told me what to expect regarding the table moving. I don't remember the details but it was something like "long movements followed by some short jerks and then repeated several times". If he hadn't told me that, I would have worried that it had gone wrong!
Oh and be ready for them to ask what sort of music you'd like to listen to - I was surprised and said "Anything" and ended up with tenor arias - which were good but probably not to everyone's taste!
