Hi I was hoping for some feedback. I had an Afib Ablation 5 days ago. I am still having shortness of breath. Did other who have had this treatment experience the same feeling? How long? Thanks

Yes, many of us have shortness of breath after an ablation and it's considered normal. It really does take a few weeks to recover and it may be months before your heart has healed and you feel the full benefits.

If it's causing you concern I would ring the hospital where you had your procedure and ask to speak to the AF nurse or your consultant. Peace of mind is a great healer and that's what you need right now.

Wishing you well.

I'm still breathless 7 weeks post ablation, also very tired still, so 5 days is very early on the road to recovery.

It's possible your phrenic nerve was injured during the ablation - that would affect your diaphragm and hence your breathing. This can be checked by means of a chest X-ray. If it turns out that your phrenic nerve was damaged then the prospects of recovery are very good but it may take time, e.g. somewhere between 6 and 12 months and possibly longer.
