Thanks for posting that, it is very interesting. However, although figures are given for Aspirin and Warfarin, I don't see any there for Clopidogrel (and presumably other NOACs). I reckon the jury is still out.

Thanks for posting. This view was one my naturopath advised years back when I was first diagnosed as PAF. My EP did not recommend anti-thrombotic therapy based on a low CHADs score. So, good to see some research on this.

Again, this does not seem to distinguish between stroke from clots from AF, and stroke from problems with the arteries. Clopidogrel and possibly aspirin, appear to be for the latter, NOACs and Warfarin for the former. So those of us with AF as our main problem are not advised to take aspirin.

Thanks for posting this. It seems important. Although just one study, it would seem to contradict the received medical wisdom. I wonder if any research been made that actually supports the prescription of anti-thrombotics for low-risk AF patients? Or is the medical profession working on an assumption? It would be devastating for many AF sufferers to discover that by taking anti-coagulants they were actually increasing their risk of stroke. I hope further research is carried out sooner rather than later - and not by the pharmaceutical companies.

Thank you for that Delle, a timely report as I am just weighing up the pros and cons of starting on anti coagulants to cut down on the risk of a stroke from clots (as my Doctor advises) and taking them and risking a haemorrhage.
