Clinical Scientist Discussion report

Hi Well, had my face to face appointment with a GP on Monday about my back pain. Delighted,as it was my old GP back there after coming back from retirement.

We had a nice chat about life, families bad back etc.

I asked him why had I had a text about a blood test to ' monitor AC' . ' Why ,he said, you are not on Warfarin!'

I told him it was from their clinical scientist. His raised eyebrow said it all!

We had a discussion, and he put on my notes that it was unneccessary to A/C screen me . The only annual test I need is for kidney function for the ace inhibitor I take( Losartan)

He confirmed my suspicions about Edoxaban and also put a note on to say I am to remain on Apixaban indefinetly.

The old uns are the best!

Never did get a call back from the CS btw.

Hope you are all well and enjoying a bit of sunshine.

Spring is coming, bluebells in our garden are poking through and the snowdrops in the woods behind are gorgeous.

as I read your post I thought ‘old un’s are the best’. Then read it 😅great minds & all that…..

Sometimes common sense and what my old geography teacher used to say ‘have a bit of gumption girl’ serves us better!

You need at least yearly liver and kidney function tests while taking Apixaban

Indeed! Soon it will all be automated & GPs will be redundant.....well there aren't many left now in anycase.

We will receive painting by number kits which we fill in and submit to happy computers who will tell us what to take & when and send us a pretty pic if we follow their instructions well.

Love ure photo!

Had similar experience this week re my uploading of levothyroxine. Older GP has ordered all the blood tests I requested. Phone call only though. Haven't seen hide nor hair of a GP since Jan 2020. Glad you got that cleared up!
