Have kardia changed their algorithms recently? I used to find when I had sinus arrhythmia that it was classified as 'possible AF', but lately it's been coming up as normal.

Mine reported sinus arrhythmia as possible Afib on 6 March and I haven't had a software update since then. Hope it has been changed as it scared the willies out of me!!

I cannot say if there have been any changes, but I am using my Kardia less lately. I kept getting 'Possible AF' or 'Unclassified'. I paid up for a few analyses from Kardia, but none reported definite AF, as opposed to possible AF. I showed these to my last 2 Cardiologists (always changing, alas) and the last one said, the possible AF one was 'merely ectopics', but the unclassified one 'could be a bit of AF'. He did not want to keep these reports on my file. Previously when I used the Kardia, it gave me re-assurance. I'm not so sure now - the more I took readings, the more stressed I felt.

My Kardia is new, but may not be the newest version. It seems to have only three options: normal, 'Possible AF', and 'Unclassified'. I take this to mean that either it is confident I am in NSR ie 'normal', or it is confident I am in AF but no-one wants to take the risk of saying that as no machine at this level is perfect 100% of the time ie 'Possible AF', or it really isn't sure what the reading shows ie 'Unclassified', in which case I just do it again both then and in subsequent hours until something more satisfactory comes up. If 'unclassifed' persisted, then I would consider getting further advice. This machine is for us amateurs - the experts have the 'Real McCoy' with '12 leads' etc, and even then the conclusion depends on the expertise of the reader to interpret it! - I guess that's what EPs get paid for!!!!
