Well had my appointment with cardiologist. Ef dropped from 54-47%. Left with a monitor for a month to record my af episodes and lose 3 stone in 6 months as this could help with the af. Already lost nearly 2 stone since ablation and still getting the af so just see what happens once monitor recording done x

Well done jules with the weight loss so far - a good incentive to keep going!

I hope the monitor will prove useful and best wishes for losing more weight, every report on AF urges weight loss if it is necessary.

I am 2.5 stones overweight and when I saw the consultant I asked him if the AF had anything to do with that and whether I should lose weight. He said definetly not anything to do with being overweight - if I wanted to lose weight good but it would not improve the AF! so mixed messages here - but am trying anyway!

I think you wil find that most of the more recent studies show that weight loss and exercise/healthy living does help to improve AF for most people. I say this as someone who also needs to lose weight etc.

A lot of doctors are not up to date on this and we must do our own research.

My cardiologist did mention all the studies. I'll just keep plodding on doing what I'm doing. It's coming off slowly but even if I can't reach the 3 stone anything is better than nothing x

Since I lost 2 stone my afib had reduced from 2 days in 4 to 1 day in 4 so go for it! I have been on a very low carb diet and it has worked and educed my blood sugar too which had been at pre-diabetic levels so all good! And I can climb a hill that I was breathless doing before

I've been losing weight steadily since my ablation last July. Nearly two stone but up to now af still every 2-3 days but short episodes maybe lasting 3-4 hours. As I'm still dieting hopefully more will come off. I'm walking as much as I can when able to which will help as well x
