AF
This PROCEDURE (not operation) is very common in UK . I had three before my AF was sorted nine years ago. The four pulmonary veins are usually isolated first as this is quite often where the rogue impulses start but other areas can be ablated. There is an excellent booklet downloadable from AF Association main website which explains it all in great detail. There are various versions of this procedure from pure surgical (normally only done during other heart operations) to Radio Frequency or Cryo ablation using a catheter . All explained in plain English.
