For the last couple of nights just as I'm falling asleep I'm getting palpitations, PAC, and bouts of fluttering lasting a few seconds to a few mins. Could a lowered heart rate be causing these phenomena? One reading said my heart rate was 47 bpm. Which seems low. Anyone with similar issues? Thank you.

I was just going to post something very similar. I get them a lot, not just before sleep, I've just realised it's not the AF but most likely ectopic beats. LOTS of them. My heart rate has come down too, in a slightly (though still small) dose of nebivolol, low for me at 62 BPM. I'm waiting to see cardiology again.
When my heart rate was low I had palpitations every night. Since reducing Bisoprolol the palpitations have stopped. My GP said it was the slow heart rate that caused them.
Yes, I don't have a low heart rate or any meds but I think it is caused by change in position upsetting the heart for a few moments as I have scoliosis and a fused spine so my internal organs are under pressure. Being overweight would have a similar effect.
I get these feelings most nights and my heart rate seems to hover around 65 when I lay down.
Hi Cujos;
Yes, It happens to me frequently when I try to fall asleep, I will awake abruptly with a start, with an elevated heart rate. If I am really unlucky it will trigger a run of tachycardia. I have wondered, like you, if the lower pulse rate as we are moving into sleep triggers our hearts to 'freak out' and do some crazy things. Anyhow, I absolutely HATE it. When I started on Beta Blockers it got much worse. There were nights that every single time I would try to fall asleep it would happen and I would have to give up on sleep for the night entirely. For some reason it is better now, I don't know why. Perhaps it was adjusting to the drugs.
