Irregular heatbeat

I have been diagnosed with persistent AF but had the ablation stopped after a clot was found in my heart. Now I am severely breathless is this normal in AF or is it to do with the clot.? I take 6.25mcg of digoxin and warfarin.

Hi, a lot of people suffer breathlessness with AF I would think that it is that rather than the clot. I would talk to your GP or the hospital about how it can improved. Maybe a change of medication could help.

Af will contribute to breathlessness and so will the clot. You may have other causes too and need to be investigated

You need to get checked out- go to A and E and let them know that a clot was seen previously.

Don't delay- it may be nothing but it can be a sign of something connected with the clot

Let us know how you get on

I will return as I have an appointment with the outreach cardiologist who works directly with the EP in B'ham. I really need to know what is happening. My GP says my blood oxygen is 98percent so I am at a loss.

Hope you get some answers.

Sometimes anxiety can cause shallow breathing which can trick the body into thinking it needs more oxygen, when it doesn't, which results in breathlessness.

And who wouldn't be anxious with all that going on. So may I make a suggestion to try do some conscious breathing - lengthen and deepen your breath and slow down your breathing rate as much as you can.

Best wishes CD,

Digoxin made me breathless when I tried to walk about .you should try another medication . The consultant put me on Verapamil 120mg which has given me a chance to walk exercise garden and makes me feel so much better .digoxin is used for people who do not move about much and affects all the nerves in chest lungs and stomach so this may be why you feel so breathless .Good luck you will get there
