Children with AF

Does anyone know if there's a support forum for children?

My good friends 8 year old daughter is having an ablation next week.

Cheers

Barry

Sorry I doubt it since AF is so rare in children. You can't blame over exercise or alcohol abuse at that age! You could search communities in case there is a specific children's illness forum.

Maybe read up about Jessie J ? She's had AF since she was 8. Article says she is involved with The Prince's Trust as a result; maybe get in touch with them and ask?

This thread was about Jessie J healthunlocked.com/afassoci...

It is unlikely that there is time to pursue what I will suggest but maybe something to check in the future. Ablations are not always fully successful.

I know for certain that the heart is impacted by the nerves in the spinal column. For quite a while now, I have been experimenting with chiropractic treatment and using a Scenar device and I am obtaining positive results. What has happened to my spine has been in the making for years so fixing it may take some time, if it can be fixed at all.

The heart is impacted by the vagus nerve at vertebrae C1 and C2 and also at T1 and T2. Heart doctors I don't believe explore that spinal impact on the nerves can be a cause of AF, even though the cause is not known. They treat the symptoms only. I asked Dr. Sanja Gupta and he is unaware that anyone is exploring this possibility. He also thinks it is likely a waste of time and money even though he has probably not looked into it. Take a look at this website: amcchiropractic.net/book/ex....

My family doctor told me, if you ask a surgeon for a solution, you will get a surgical solution; so maybe if you ask a heart doctor for a solution, you will get a heart based solution, which is sometimes the right one. We only know what we know.

As we get older our spine changes and can impact the nerves in a new way. For children, this would seem more unlikely. What does happen to children when they are born is they have a rough trip through the birth canal and also during cesarean delivery. Sometimes the spine is impacted. It is probably a good idea to have a chiropractor check a baby to determine if everything is in alignment. One of my daughters has scoliosis which was diagnosed at an age after corrective treatment could be done. This may have been caught by a chiropractor. Her mother has it as well so you would think a family doctor might check. Unfortunately, more so in the past than now, GP's did not recommend chiropractic treatment and probably many still do not. Like all doctors, all chiropractors do not have the same knowledge or expertise. You need to find one open minded enough to realize AF may be something they can prevent and know how or are willing to attempt sensible and economic spinal correction. In some jurisdictions, heart doctors may imply that chiropractors are overstepping their area of expertise. We, as patients, are very unaware of what takes place behind the scenes. One chiropractor I know about in Florida knows AF can be cured and another in Toronto, Canada does as well. You may find others who know as well. The corrective action could take several months of treatment; or if you are lucky, only one treatment.

In my opinion, messing around with a child's heart should be the option of last resort. In the US, $90,000, the cost of an ablation, is a big incentive.

The diagnosis has been changed to Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome, so I don't have the knowledge to understand how it compares totally to AF.
