Yes me! Female and a bit younger than you though 63). Diagnosed in 2012 and in PAF since May 2013. Same symptoms.

Be interested to know if you are offered ablation or cardioversion........I was told at QAH Portsmouth, that ablation only had 50% chance of working............and unless i was 37 years old and wanted to run marathons, then I was better off staying as I was....do contact me if you want to know more...and please give us all an update!! Good luck!

Hi Robert

I am identical to you but a year older. On 1.25 Bisoprolol.I was diagnosed with AF 11 years ago and this has become permanent for the last 3 years or so despite 2 ablations and one cardio version.

3 years ago I was also identified as having mitral regurgitation. However this was regarded as not being sufficiently bad to warrant a procedure. I am under review but overdue an examination by 6 months.

My dilemma ?

Do I push for an op now to repair or replace when I feel pretty fine most of the time; or do I delay until absolutely necessary. The latter option means my chances of good recovery become less as I age.

I like to think I am fit, playing badminton, walking, cycling and gardening. Like you I do get breathless but usually only when playing badminton or navigating hills by foot or pedal power. Some days, pretty rare, I get breathless hardly doing anything. My other annoying problem is perspiration. Understandable when exercising but a real inconvenience when sitting in a crowded room. Possibly due to lack of oxygen.

I hope all works out well for you.
