Interesting article by Dr John Mandrola. Having being following the AF debate for the last 20 years, I think techniques have improved, and I believe there is a much more rigorous assessment of outcomes now.

Having said that, I agree with JM in that I think ablations will be unsuccessful if the AF is caused by lifestyle issues which are not modified - i.e. excess weight, poor diet, lack of exercise or excess alcohol. I have read separately that it is mainly those with lone AF (i.e. no known cause) who have successful ablations. I also think the expertise of the EP is a major factor.
